This gathering marks an important step in fostering dialogue and collaboration between the Mediterranean-focused study groups of the International Musicological Society (IMS) and the International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance (ICTMD). By bringing together scholars from both organizations, the meeting creates a unique space for interdisciplinary exchange, allowing for new perspectives on the musical cultures of the Mediterranean. It highlights a shared commitment to bridging historical, ethnographic, and analytical approaches, and strengthens transnational networks dedicated to understanding the rich and diverse soundscapes of this region.
