Description
The mission of the IMS Study Group โEarly Music and the New World / Mรบsica Antigua y Nuevo Mundoโ is to further knowledge about music in Latin America from the sixteenth to nineteenth centuries, and also serve as the professional research branch of the โProgetto Higini Anglรจs,โ which, supported by the Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra in Rome, intends to probe the cultural legacy of European missionaries in the Americas, Asia, and Africa, and also involve the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis for research into performance practice of early music. The study group was created in Havana, at the first conference of the IMS Regional Association for Latin America and the Caribbean, hosted by Casa de las Amรฉricas from 17 to 21 March 2014.
