Description
The verdiales are a musical expression of flamenco of social and festive character, of archaic origin and linked to the celebrations of different parts of the province of Malaga. The proposal focuses on the study, through self-analysis of the work Estudio desenfocado sobre los verdiales (2021), for contrabass clarinet and electronics by F. Javier Trabalón. Work commissioned, premiered and recorded by the duo Tránsito Sonoro. The work takes the features of the three styles of verdiales (Comares, Montes and Almogía) that can be recognized in the interpretative character, the rhetorical effects, the selected timbres, the melodic lines or the rhythmic. In turn, the electronics combine field recordings of different verdiales festivities, which are celebrated annually in Malaga on December 28th. These recordings show different degrees of modification through the use of granular synthesis or concatenative synthesis, together with other traditional means such as filters, delays or stretching, among others. The intention is to show the dialogue between archaic popular traditions, typical of Malaga, with the musical creation in the XXI century in formats that involve electronics and unusual instruments (contrabass clarinet).
